A Solicitor-Advocate is a solicitor who is qualified to appear on behalf of clients in all of the scottish courts, including the Court of Session and House of Lords when it sits as the highest court of appeal in Scottish civil cases. Previously such rights of audience were only available to advocates, the Scottish equivalent of barristers.
At HBM Sayers we have four solicitor-advocates, including one of Scotland's few solicitor advocate Queen's Counsel. This means that we can provide you with the full range of litigation services without necessarily having to instruct an advocate. Our solicitor advocates frequently draft pleadings and other documents relating to Court of Session cases which means that we are able to keep the involvement of Counsel to a minimum.
