Insurance litigation has always been our business.
HBM Sayers was formed in 1999 with the merger of two well-known Glasgow law firms - Hamilton Burns & Moore and Cochran Sayers & Cook.
Each firm already had a considerable reputation for insurance law and litigation, running alongside their respective private client and property departments. Following the merger our insurance practice has strengthened further, so that HBM Sayers is now one of the leading Scottish law firms specialising in insurance litigation. For the past few years we have been ranked No 1 for personal injury defence work in the Chambers UK Guide to the Legal Profession.

"Put simply, “defendant litigation is what HBM Sayers does - this true heavyweight in Scotland is without doubt among the best.” Maintaining its position at the head of the field, the firm often works on the most significant pieces of litigation in the market."
At HBM Sayers we don’t subscribe to the old fashioned traditional notion of practicing law. We believe in our people, we believe in our service and, most importantly, we believe in keeping our clients happy.
We understand that the mechanisms by which you assess and value our services are increasingly scientific. For this reason we work on implementing solutions to ensure that you will be given the information you need in the format you specify as and when required. In this way, we hope that you will agree with others who believe that HBM Sayers stands head and shoulders above the competition.
The Ministry of Justice has confirmed that the Government will not overturn a Law Lords' ruling that pleural plaques are not compensatable damage. It will, however, push through a range of measures to support people who have been exposed to asbestos, including those with pleural plaques.
